"John Smith scores again" by Jon Amper

Captain John Smith, Commanding Officer of VMF-223, scoring his eighth kill and his third kill of the day over Henderson Field on August 30, 1942. The victim is a clipped wing Zero 32 from the Third Carrier Fleet based at Buka. Smith's six-gunned F4F-4 took the Zero in a head-on attack which blew the drop tank off and sent the Zero crashing into Lunga Point.
