Dear Mr. Crowder:
Thank you for your kind letter of February 22nd in which
you express the sentiments of the Choctaw Area Council, Boy
Scouts of America, Executive Committee concerning the work
which Swede Hanson has done, and is doing, in connection
with the Boy Scout movement.
Not only is it a pleasure for a superior officer to read
comments such as yours about one under his command, but
additionally, as a fellow naval officer of Captain Hanson's,
one cannot help but feel very proud to know of the outstanding
service which Swede has given of his own time and initiative.
During my two visits to McAlester in the past year, I found one
of the most noticeable things which should strike any naval
visitor is the obvious high esteem in which Captain Hanson is
held by the community. Your letter only serves to confirm that
observation.
I should like to add, however, that often such activities by
our officers are never brought to the attention of those
superior by thoughtful people such as yourself and the
Executive Committee. I very much appreciate the fact that you
took the time to write the kind words about Captain Hanson
which your letter contained.
With very best wishes to you and the Choctaw Area Council,
I am
